Science Customs is created to offer a new level of customization for bodyboards. The innovative project is headed up by perhaps, two of the sports most innovative thinkers and radical real world test pilots, Mike Stewart and Al Taylor. The boards will feature a completely different composition to standard Bodyboards that allow for novel design opportunities.
 
“The quest for the ultimate bodyboard has led us to entirely new materials and production methods” said Al from the North shore of Hawaii
 
“I see this as a unique opportunity to open the doors to a lot of innovative concepts that previously where just not feasible. There is an almost unlimited graphic, shape and flex potential here not to mention some of the more exotic concepts we will now be able to bring to life.” said Mike Stewart.
 
Science Customs has its roots in Hawaii, appropriately this is where Bodyboarding all started. Mike grew up here and pioneered the sport in surging reefbreak pits, and continues to lead the way in bodyboarding to this day, as evidenced by the fact that he is a contender for the 2009 IBA world title.

"I'm (Michael van Huyssteen) a pioneer in the sport of bodyboarding here in South Africa. I have captured all the video footage of the recent Reef SA Bodyboarding Championships held in Lamberts Bay on the West Coast of South Africa. I also competed in the event in the Masters Division. I'm one of the first two Springboks and received this in 1989. Bodyboarding is a great sport and I want to share this with many people. The video was also edited by me."

From the 27th September to 2nd October 2009 the Boland Bodyboarding Association will be hosting the 23rd annual South African Bodyboarding Championships. This year's event will take place on the stretch of coastline between Elands Bay and Lamberts Bay
